I colored my hair blonde, but it's naturally brown, roots are showing. Should I color it back?

I had to stop dying my hair, due to bad breakage. It's been a while since I dyed it (I've been letting it grow out). It's now Half in half almost, and I'm tired of that look. I want to dye the blonde part, but I'm afraid of it falling out or turning gray or purple, and I don't really want to spend over 100 dollars at a salon. Any ideas?

you have to be careful coloring your hair at home, going straight from blonde to brown can cause off coloring like green or gray. you need your hair to be pre-filled to acheive the correct color....... you can also just have your outgrowth lightened to match the blonde ends

There are kits that let you just dye your roots.

What i would do is go to the salon. If you do it at home, than you will make it an undesirable colour, and than you would end up going to the salon anyways. It is a technique that you have to do to make it your natural colour, not just slap it on.If you don't want to go to a salon to spend the money,i would suggest that you go to a hair styling school, they have teachers who know what they are doing and they assist the students.good luck.

If you use Preference by Loreal, it isn't harsh, and also comes with a wonderful conditioner. Put the color on your blonde hair first, then work it into the rest of your hair approx. 5 minutes before you wash it out. Before you do any of this, use a product by St. Ive's. It comes in a packet, and it's a deep conditioner. It will help you with the dryness and the splitting.

why would you want to change from being a brunette.. I say go back to your original color, and maybe highlight it?!?

Dye it all a medium brown with loreal box color. I had the exact same problem a few years ago. Brunette hair looks a lot better in my opinion and if you still want the blonde, wait a few weeks and add some blonde highlights.

Let it turn back to it's original color. Dyed hair is not what it's cracked up to be (pun intended), natural always looks better because its healthier and somehow, unexplainably, it fits your face better.

Well my advise is to let your hair grown out and go back to your nautral and leave it for a while and maybe was it and let it be free....lol..... then if u want to dye yur hair then i think that fine.....

if you want to save a lot of money just keep your natural color it probably looks the best. color the whole thing back including your roots until all that blonde is cut off you may have to color every three weeks

you probably can dye it either color if its strong enough now. brown is back in style though...

I normally use a mild semi-permanent color when I color the hair back to natural when the goal is to reduce the damage. Go to a local hair school and let the instructor assist the student in the process. Don't use a permanent color because the lightened hair is going to grab the color really quick and the shaft is already open. The permanent colors usually req a stonger formualtion of peroxide. You will want to deep condition your hair before you color it and use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair.
