Why cant i die my hair blonde when i have died it red/dark previously??

well....i won't waste time saying the same things as the other answers, because that's what i would've written...

but...i just noticed this and wanted to say...you don't "die" your hair...you "dye" it.... and so it means you have "dyed" your hair... just a spelling mistake, not trying to be snobbish... (but gives me a reason to get an extra two points here!..lol)..

Thanks

Hope the charity event turns out well

If your hair is dark now you need to bleach out the dark color and then add in the blonde...

The best thing I can tell you is go to a beauty supply store or your hair dresser and ask them what is safe for ur hair. I have dark brown hair originally and i dyed it blond for about 4 years. the activator i don't remember, but the powder i used is called bw2000. I am now back to my brown hair.

I hope your hair did not die when you dyed it before. Get professional advice, before proceeding.

Well, your hair could fall out. The hyrogen peroxide used in lightening hair is very strong and can permanently damage your hair. If you have put dark hair dye in your hair, the pigment is put there by using a chemical bond, and then when you lighten the hair, you break that bond and replace it with another. If your hair is exposed to these chemicals in a short period of time or incorrectly, your hair will melt and fall out. Also, if you have particular types of dark hair - fine, thin, frizzy - your hair is already very sensitive to chemicals and could react strongly to the aniline dyes (permanent dyes) and then the peroxide. The other problem is that many hair dyes on the market are metal based, and when mixed with the acids used to lighten hair, they will turn the most amazing colors, and then melt your hair. The other problem is that the chemical reactions of these various dyes and bleaches can cause burns to your scalp.

you cant dye it yet because it would damage the cuticle of your hair which leads to breaking damaged hair. You hair might not come out into the right colour and you may end up cutting it to look human.lol. So if i were u i'd wait at least 6 months before considering dying my hair.

The reason for your friend being able to dye her hair from black to blonde is because blonde lacks pigmentation and is at the higher end of the pigment wheel. In order to dye your hair blonde, you would have to bleach it in order to strip your hair of its pigment and original colour, you can use blonde on it straight away but you might not get the results that you were hopingfor... [i.e. a darker colour, in reaction to the dark in your hair already].

If you DO bleach your hair you need to treat it quite often [steaming, etc]

ALSO if you have dyed your hair previously, using chemical upon chemical can overprocess your hair, causing it to break and you more susceptible to things like split ends, breakages, all that....

I agree with the other answers, why don't you just buy a wig for the charity event. Good luck

You can't die hair It's already dead

You could be left with no hair. in order to kn ow if you can bleach your hair successfully you will need to do a strand test. in order to find out if your hair will achieve the desired shade and if it's ok and your hair doesn't break. then you will be able to bleach your hair blonde. Good luck.
