What does it take to dye brunette hair blonde?

I'm naturally a graying brunette and wondered if blonde would be a better camouflage to the grays or if I should just keep coloring it brown. Also, if I went blonde, since I already color my hair, would it trash my hair? Someone suggested that next time I color my hair I go with a blonde shade, and continue to do that until it has grown out and then just cut it short (it is currently shoulder length) Any ideas? Help?

I am also a naturally graying brunette (or probably at this point totally gray!)... to go to blond you have to strip the color from your hair first, which is really tough on your hair...why not try steaks of blonde? It hides the grays (by helping them to blend in) and doesn't require a tough stripping process...I would also recommend that you have this done professionally at first until you get an idea of what's involved...By the way, I went red (auburn) and I love it!

What I did.....

Go to Beauty Supply Store and get a product that removes the old hair dye color from your hair.

Then you have to bleach your hair ....several good products on market. ask store clerk to help you. Test your hair frequently ... so you don't over do it.

Then get the blonde color kit that you want and apply it as you always have. Also, pick up one of those small color sticks for touch up on roots,,,, if you wear your hair back.

Don't cut it short. That's for old women. Keep the length, but do it a lighter brown. Blonde doesn't look right on everyone.
